We talked this out with a few of our Shoutcast users and they all seemed to agree on this so we have done it.
We have lowered the bit rate limit on all packages from Extreme down to Personal to 56kbps instead of 128kbps. This will mean that your broadcasts will not be as crisp and clean as they were but you will notice that you will get more listeners, the server will also respond faster as well. We will also be adding 2 more ISPs and we are planning on setting up another server dedicated to Shoutcast users within the next few weeks.
We have sent out a questionnaire to 74 of our Shoutcast users asking them if they would prefer to broadcast at a lower bit rate or if they would prefer to have a lower listener cap set, they unanimously chose to have their bit rate lowered to ensure system stability. If you have any questions please email us.
We feel that this limit is not unfair since recent look ups of Shoutcast hosts have came back with around 800 a month for the same features of our extreme plan at the new 56k bit rate limit.
